MAF Helps DREAMers Finance Deferred Action
Announcing Launch of Lending Circles for DREAMers
August 15, 2012: On the same day that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) started accepting applications from young immigrants for “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals,” Mission Asset Fund unveiled a new loan program designed to help Dreamers pay for the costly $465 application for Deferred Action.
This Deferred Action policy was announced by President Obama on June 15th and allows Dreamers to obtain protection from deportation and access to work permits. Lending Circles for Dreamers is a social loan and match savings program that helps remove the financial barriers to applying for deferred action. Mission Asset Fund is offering San Francisco Area participants the chance to get a 33% match that will reduce the cost of applying for deferred action.
