Mission Asset Fund (MAF) is a non-profit organization based in San Francisco that helps low-income individuals with limited assets and thin credit histories become visible to and active participants in the mainstream U.S. financial system. By pairing credit-building loan products with actionable financial education, MAF helps individuals avoid predatory lending products and build financial stability.
MAF’s award-winning peer lending program, Lending Circles, organizes low-income individuals into zero-interest and zero-fee credit building loans. Lending Circles is an innovative and successful way to help the unbanked transition successfully into the financial mainstream. This program helps people achieve more with what they have - and it is easy to implement right out of the box.
MAF is actively seeking nonprofit partners in Minnesota, Oregon and Washington State to replicate its award-winning program. Through a generous grant from the Northwest Area Foundation, MAF will provide training and technical assistance to a limited number of qualified partner organizations to help replicate the program in their communities.
