In the darkest moments, we find our way forward by following our north star—the values we hold dear that animate our lives and bind us together in community. Staying focused on what brings joy and meaning to our lives is how we move forward, assured that every step we take is firm and secure despite the pitch darkness and uncertainty of the moment. This is how we always find our way. And today is no different.

At MAF, we focus our energy and attention on helping low-income and immigrant families, giving them a fighting chance to prosper and experience freedom in their financial lives. Our strategy centers on one idea: by creating financial solutions in the context of their lives, with dignity and respect, we increase their chance of success. Instead of pushing products built for others, we create solutions that matter to the people we serve.

And our strategy isn’t just working—it’s transforming lives. In 2024, we’ve funded $2.3 million credit building loans, creating financial pathways for almost 4,000 individuals. We’ve directly invested more than $563,000 to help small businesses in California thrive. Through our Immigration Loan program, $821,000 went straight into the hands of immigrants seeking relief, ensuring that filing fees don’t stand in the way of their progress. And during times of hardship, we’ve provided stability by distributing $3.2 million in grants to families still recovering from the devastating pandemic. 

The impact numbers tell a compelling story, but what truly moves me are the countless individual stories of transformation—families building credit for the first time, entrepreneurs launching their dreams, and immigrants securing their future in this country. Every success story reflects our commitment to dignity, respect, and financial inclusion for all.

Our work is crucial now more than ever. As we look ahead to 2025, MAF is well positioned to reach more families with our new MIJA platform, providing solutions and resources that help people move forward in their immigration journeys. 

And every step forward in that journey is a testament to our deeply shared values and the courage that defines our communities. In the days and years to come, MAF will continue to show up and do more to build a future where every family can be active and successful in their financial lives.
